Get ready to build, design, and use your imagination! Think like real architects and engineers and turn imaginative ideas into hands-on creations. In Museum Makers, campers will explore how museums like the future Northern Virginia Science Center create spaces that inspire curiosity and wonder. Each day will spotlight a different kind of museum gallery—from animals to art to outer space—inviting campers to dream and design their own museum!
In Museum Makers, campers will:
🛠️ Meet the Team!
Step into the roles shaping the future Science Center as campers explore how exhibits come to life through lighting, sound, and storytelling.
🛠️ Go Behind the Scenes!
Go beyond the surface and investigate how museums work from the inside out. Through hands-on exploration of the Lab, campers will strengthen their critical thinking skills as they uncover how exhibits are built, tested, and improved.
🛠️ Design & Build Your Own Gallery!
Inspired by the Northern Virginia Science Center galleries—Flow, Human, Habitat, Wonder, and Helios—campers will imagine and create their own immersive exhibit spaces.
🛠️ Dream Big, Build Together!
Collaborate with fellow museum makers to design, brand, and promote a one-of-a-kind museum experience. Develop presentation skills as you present your final creations to the team.
This camp is for children in rising grades 1–5.
