Science of Camping

9:00 AM  –  3:00 PM

Designed for children currently enrolled in grades K through 5.

After Care from 3pm - 5pm is available and involves the campers exploring the Lab and its activities with a small group.  After Care is available for an additional $35 per child.

Oh the smell of s'mores on a campfire!  The sound of crickets chirping and the glittering of stars under the night sky!  Who doesn't love camping? Join us as we explore how camping uses science in many fun ways.
 
In The Science of Camping, students will:

Explore the outdoors through the lens of science.

Engineer their own compass and practice the art of orienteering.

Develop skills to explore nature and learn how to protect it.

Explore camping gear and the technology behind it.

 Make a solar oven to try when camping at home.

 Try their hand at knot-tying and learn the physics behind it.

 

Daisies (K-1) will complete badge requirements #1, 2,3 for the Eco-Learner Badge, and #3 for Outdoor Buddy Camper

Brownies (2-3) will complete badge requirements #2, 4 Cabin Camper, #1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 Eco-Friends Badges

Juniors will complete badge requirements #1, 2, 4 for Camper, and #1, 2, 3, 5 Eco-Camper Badges

 

Although this camp is designed for girls scouts to fulfill the Girl Scout of the USA Badge Requirements, any child may register for this camp.

 
Participants must bring their own nut-free lunch and snack. Aftercare is from 3pm - 5pm and available for $35. 
 
Member discounts are applied at checkout. 
 
We require written notice if you need to withdraw from a program. Please send written notice by email requesting the withdrawal. A full refund will be provided less a $10 administrative fee if cancellation is requested with 5 days advance notice.  No refunds will be processed within two weeks of the program start day.
