Icy Inspiration: Designs in Nature

Monday December 20

9:30 AM  –  12:30 PM

Explore the wintry outdoors from the comfort of your own home with Icy Inspiration: Designs in Nature! Take inspiration from the natural world from snowflakes to habits to create your very own unique designs, while exploring concepts of math, engineering, and design along the way.

In this camp, we will:

Explore geometry and symmetry of nature from snowflakes to pinecones.

Build a winter animal tracker and make observations to see patterns in behavior.

Learn about adaptations animals and plants have to help them survive in the winter.

Create our own insulated animal habitat!

This camp is relevant to the Brownie and Junior Girl Scout badge, Design with Nature. While it may not complete all specific requirements for the badge, we encourage you to use it as a part of your badge exploration.

Each day of virtual camp consists of three hours of a structured zoom session and a kit with all the materials necessary for the camp activities.  Kits will need to be picked up at one of the designated times specified when you check out.

Camps are designed for current 2nd-6th graders.

We require written notice if you need to withdraw from a program. Please send written notice by email requesting the withdrawal. A full refund will be provided less a $10 administrative fee if cancellation is requested with 5 days advance notice.  No refunds will be processed within two weeks of the program start day.
