Seasonal, full-day, school break STEM camp for children in grades 3-6.
The Children's Science Center Lab's single-day Spring Break Camps are presented in partnership with Invent Now, a not-for-profit organization which operates the National Inventors Hall of Fame and Collegiate Inventors Competition.
During Engineering the Medieval Way camp, children will:
- Investigate basic scientific principles and enjoy creating and building to address engineering design challenges presented in the context of medieval times;
- Work collaboratively to complete tasks demonstrating concepts of gravity, buoyancy, and simple machines;
- Build towers, boats, draw-bridges, and catapults as well as design medieval coats of arms and jewelry;
- Integrate data gleaned from simple hands-on science experiments with the creation of their own inventions.
Participants should bring a healthy snack and lunch. Please note that the Lab is a nut-free facility.
We require written notice if you need to withdraw from a program. Please send written notice by email requesting the withdrawal. A full refund will be provided less a $10 administrative fee if cancellation is requested with 5 days advance notice. No refunds will be processed within two weeks of the program start day.
