Secret Message Camp

The Children's Science Center Lab's single-day Fall Break Camps are creative opportunities for hands-on learning. This STEM camp is designed for children in grades 1-4.

During Secret Message Camp, children will: 

  • Gain an introductory knowledge of writing secret codes through various methods such as pictures, letters, and numbers.
  • Investigate a cryptography challenge to solve the mystery of a crime scene.
  • Interpret and analyze clues successfully by utilizing previous and new knowledge to decode clues throughout the Lab.
  • Build on their ability to work in a team effectively.  

Participants should bring a healthy snack and lunch. Please note that the Lab is a nut-free facility.

We require written notice if you need to withdraw from a program. Please send written notice by email requesting the withdrawal. A full refund will be provided less a $10 administrative fee if cancellation is requested with 5 days advance notice.  No refunds will be processed within two weeks of the program start day. 

 

 

  • The Children’s Science Center Lab is offering single-day camps during spring break for hands-on STEM learning with three camp themes. In each camp, children learn principles of science, design, and engineering, and apply their ingenuity to problem solve a creative challenge. The Children's Science Center Lab's single-day Spring Break Camps are presented in partnership with Invent Now, a not-for-profit organization which operates the National Inventors Hall of Fame and Collegiate Inventors Competition.   

     

    During the Castles and Catapults camp, children will: 

     

    • Investigate basic scientific principles and enjoy creating and building to address engineering design challenges presented in the context of medieval times;
